[ Mikasa has opted out of the usual meet and greet place Zodion sets up for newcomers, choosing to do a bit of reconnaissance instead. Right now her main priority is locating Eren, but anyone is free to stop her.
But that might be a bit difficult, considering that she's up in the air, vaulting from one roof to another with the help of her cables. ]
B;
[ It's time for a break. Mikasa is finally on the ground, practically weak in the legs from exhaustion. What she needs right now is sleep, but she decides that a bit of food might revitalize her enough so that she continue her search around the city.
She'll just be staring at a vendor, wondering how she'll be able to negotiate a deal with them. She could just steal a loaf of bread and pay them back later, but the last thing she needs are the authorities chasing after her.
Meanwhile, the vendor is unnerved by her expression and is taking cover behind their register. ]

There was someone new here.
He was on his way to the market and now he's on his way after whoever it was whizzing overhead. He was sprinting as hard as he could and ah- ah just there- he was kind of catching up.]
HEY!
[Damn it. Why in the hell had he ever listened to Armin about the gear in the first place?]
Slow the hell down!
That's the first time I heard that joke >:(
His voice carries -- call it a talent of his, but he had a way of calling someone's attention when he wanted it badly enough. As soon as she registers the shouting as belonging to Eren she fumbles, body swaying violently to the side as she instinctively twists her body to confirm it.
Relief floods her expression, most of her concentration disappearing in an instant. Her body is quickly descending, threatening to crush her body with a violent impact, but before she can fall anymore she uses her cables to grip the wall to the side of Eren.
And her body is flinging towards him. ]
Eren!
yeah i'm a gold mine basically
Eren recognizes her the moment she's spinning around and barreling right at him. He's glad to see her, really, he is, although not given the circumstances of this world.
It isn't until Mikasa is not even a few feet before him that Eren's eyes widen up and he raises his hands a though to protect himself against a possible crash landing.]
Mikasa, slow down!
[He wasn't going anywhere. And really, they were drawing way too much attention.]
B.
So seeing a girl almost rag-dolled, sitting on the ground during his walk, he can't leave well enough alone. He walks over to her, being slow about it because he supposes he still looks weird with his tattoos, even if he's upgraded from his game clothes to a jeans-t-shirt-hoodie combo. He doesn't want to startle anyone. ]
Do you need help?
a for anal (retentive response)
Levi knew she was reckless, but this was inexcusable. ]
Ackerman!
[ look down, now back up. where are you? you're on sex island, with the man your man wishes he could smell like. ]
b!!
Which loaf looks best, do you think?

[Lord Colin Coward preferred to keep these sorts of meetings discreet. They were arranged over the strange devices with a few trusted partners. He tried his best to keep them spread at about two weeks between each ritual.
The gods asked this of them. It was their form of worship. It stood to reason, then, that the power of the gods might also be influenced with the act.
In two hours, the scene would be completely gone. The altar prepared in the spare of the rooms would be gone, once again his desk. For now, though, it was in the centre of the room, positioned over a chalk circle with a pentagram drawn, the sign of the cross, too, each end of the cross marked with a special sigil and accompanied by a (presently) unlit candle marked with the same sign. On the altar, off to one side, was a ceremonial dagger. Used to draw blood from both the worshippers. Some of that, Coward made sure to keep. For the most part, though, it was meant to mix, hand clasped to hand.
He heard the knock at his door and left what alternated between his study and his place of worship, pulling the door closed behind him. If that was not his guest calling on him, then there was no cause to let it be seen. He went to the door of his rooms and opened it.]
Good evening.
II.
[Lord Coward had been only half listening to the old native woman speak as his fingers caressed the deck of Tarot cards she had on display in her stand of the market. She either took him or a fool or a connoisseur. He couldn't tell which. Her claim that the gods themselves had blessed these cards was unlikely at best, but the ivy pattern along the back of them captivated him.
So did the way they felt against his fingers. Like there was real power in them, only waiting for capable hands to work them.
He chuckled to himself and pulled up the first card. That, he decided, would make the choice for him. For a moment, he stared at the card. A woman standing beside a lion, unafraid. Strength. He put the card back.]
I'll take them.

This is not where he intended to be, and that's... Well, it's not unheard of. But it is problematic. Extremely problematic.
He doesn't move, save a furrowing of his eyebrows, lips thinning to nothing as he presses them together. The wind tugs at the edges of his coat, but otherwise, he's a little too still. Until he sums up, out loud.] This... is not Earth.
[...one mystery. Totally solved.]

[ roxy's actually met cas several times before, but in the interest of not piling too much on his shoulders at the out, she chooses to go for the generic answer. stepping forward, she drops down onto a bench beside the front door of the storefront and folds her hands into her lap. ]
Been here a while, if you've got questions.

Zodion. [He tests the word in his mouth and frowns at it.] Yes. I suppose I have many questions.
[But where to even begin. Well, since she's offered to be helpful, he makes his way over so sit beside her on the bench -- not too close; he remembers the personal space lesson -- hands on his knees. Okay. Question time. ] Why can't I leave? Is it the brand I've been marked with? I don't recognize the sigil.
[Not nearly enough time spent reading the horoscope section.]

You can't leave 'til the Twelve want you to go. They're the big bads in charge; they dragged you here, they'll drag you out. That sorta thing. [ she shifts on her seat, already uncomfortable with how her frame is folded up, and turns to face him with legs crossed. ] Annnnd the ink they gave you is based on the Zodiac, like Aries, Gemini, Taurus, Pieces... [ a slight shrug. ] What'd they give you?
[ roxy no you can't just ask someone that. ]

Because he has things that he needs to be doing, and none of them involve exploring strange, new worlds right now.]
What sort of beings are they?
[That's business too. But he looks rather confused at the question.] I don't know. It's not in a convenient place.
[It's on his ass. That seems inconvenient to him anyway.]

She wanders the market place, not really touching anything, not really speaking to anyone, but taking in the sights, listening to people talk. Playing the tourist.]

not the exact same story, mind you. but close enough. called to some strange new world to help save it... but saving an entire world was beyond the abilities of any single person, or even a group of them. admittedly, the "method" for saving the world was a little different here, but that didn't bother him much. if anything, it kind of made the situation more humorous somehow. and easier to ignore.
so the very night of his arrival here, he had already found some quiet bar to find solace in, sitting at a counter while ordering drinks. his card had a decent amount of money on it, so he could probably afford to spend his nights like this for quite a while before needing to find a way to replenish funds. ]
Things never change.
gives up and uses rebuild for now ig uess....
but she hasn't given up on them just yet. she hasn't given up, but she's not putting in the effort she had when she first arrived a few hours ago. she knew when to step back and properly evaluate a situation, but...
in one hand, she's got a near empty glass, twirling it thoughtfully as she stares holes into the welcome message set before her. it, along with the other confused arrivals, the natives, and those who have claimed to be in her exact situation before are all she's got to go off of and so far, she doesn't like or accept the conclusion she's reached so far.
so here she is, trying to take a load off her mind for the night. keyword: trying. ] Let me guess. You've been here for a while?
you did the right thing
Actually, I'm brand new here. Just arrived earlier today. [ he takes a sip, considering that for a moment. he shouldn't be too flattered by a comment from some drunk chick at a bar, but it is a little ingratiating to hear that he seems so at ease with things. ]
But it seems I can't get away from old habits like this.

[This is most assuredly a screech, though there's nothing distressed about it: if anything, it's a cry of
impure delight, like a 'wow' stuffed into a 'waaaah.' The source is a doubled-over twenty-something with crazy leather harness straps all over her tan-and-white outfit. She's grinding the toe of one knee-high boot into the ground as though she just cannot contain herself, and her hands are clutching at her own high ponytail, which fluffs out, gone frizzy in her joy. Simply put, Hange is stoked.]Amazing! This is amazing! You turned it on so easily! Please, please, do it again! Once more!
[Her target is a salesman who's just opened shop. He has a little lamp in his noodle stall and he'd clicked it on while he was getting things started, giving the peering Hange her first taste of working electricity. And, as a scientist, her mind is doing backflips right now. She stamps both of her feet and gives another wail, while the salesman just looks more perplexed.]
All right! I see, I see! No, I don't see at all, so how?! Do it again!
[She's making quite a ruckus with those big clunky metal boxes at her hips... Maybe the shopkeep is scared she'll cut him up with the swords she has attached? But she's like a kid in a candy store right now, and he clicks the lamp off and on again to appease her.]
THIS IS LATE BUT I WILL YELL AT YOU ANYWAY
he wants to turn tail and take the long way to work, he really does. but he realizes on the same hand he can't leave Hange loose in the city, with way too many "interesting" things and people to harass. besides, look at that noodle shop guy. he looks terrified. ]
Zoe. Leave that poor man alone to run his business, jesus. How long have you been terrorizing the natives?
